Communication and Events Officer on a part-time basis

Report to: Manager
Job Purpose: The Communications and Events Officer works closely with the Manager to
build communications capacity and event management across the organisation. She/he is
responsible for both the coordinating of activities and the internal and external communication
of CUT.


Responsibilities:
Main functions as a communications officer;

Manage press-related activities (documents, communication, recruitment adverts,
campaigns and articles) & nurture a relationship with press agencies.

  • Management of internal & external communication and ensuring two-way communication
    between CUT and its partners and the media.
  • Ensure that the visual identity of the organisation is coherent on email signatures, training
    modules, website, social platforms, campaigns & other forms of communication.
  • Production & diffusion of the organisation annual report;
  • Ensure regular online presence on online media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and
    Instagram, documenting the activities of the organisation.
  • Managing and updating the contact list database (Press, Partners, Funders, etc);
  • Participate in the coordination and management of the organisation’ events
  • Creation of communication tools (activity reports, brochures, booklets, posters,
    newsletters – Basic)
  • Support to management for communication campaigns by liaising with the production
    company, advising on content & visuals of campaigns;
  • Act as communication focal point of the organisation in relevant meetings and workshops;
  • Assist in website management, the organisation profile on social networks, an online
    database;
  • Assist in the management of trainees and volunteers;
  • Develop and implement compelling PR and creative strategies to boost awareness of the
    organisation and important work carried out;
  • Lead online and offline communications, including social and traditional media
    engagement, email marketing, website.
  • Work with an external graphic designer to develop event and campaign marketing and
    promotional materials;
  • Support in ensuring effective external communication of the organisation through the
    website, annual report, newsletters and other material;
  • Represent the organisation in communities and at relevant events around the country to
    generate new supporters, steward existing supporters, and build brand awareness;

As an events officer, the main responsibility will be to develop, coordinate and implement
event strategies as listed below

  • Develop and implement the organisation’s events planning for the year
  • Assist in the write up of project proposals and development of projects budgets and carry
    follow-ups on concept proposals
  • Compile and share detailed reports and performance analysis of events and campaigns

OTHERS

  • Any other related tasks as directed by the Manager
  • Partake in all activities related to CUT projects

Special Requirements

  • Ability to work at grassroots level and to communicate and interact easily with Key
    Affected Populations (KAPs) specially with People Who Inject Drugs (PWIDs)
  • Outgoing, flexible, passionate and a quick learner.
  • Professional attitude
  • Good understanding of issues related to Key Affected Populations (KAPs)
  • Ability to work in a team, as well as individually and possess good leadership skills
  • Fluent in English, French, and Creole
  • Willing to work hard and odd hours
  • Willing to undertake training for empowerment

Profile and Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent work experience in the relevant field
  • Strong planning & organization skills.
  • Outgoing, flexible, passionate and a quick learner.
  • Ability to work in team and possess good leadership skills
  • Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel)
  • Fluent in English and French both speaking and writing
  • Driving license (Motorcycle and/or Private Car) will definitely be an advantage
  • Knowledge in HIV/AIDS, Drug use or Harm Reduction would be a definite
    advantage.
