The Community Container was launched as a pilot phase in 2011 with a team of 6 people, including a Health care Assistant. A cargo-type Container has been refurbished and placed in the community, next to our Needle Exchange Site in Baie du Tombeau.
The aim of this project is to offer complimentary services to the Needle Exchange Programme, we thus provide basic health services to our beneficiaries twice a week.
This structure also gives the opportunity of offering a Case Management service to our beneficiaries, through advice on safe injecting practices, counselling, and we also provide information, support and referral services to various health and social services.
The Container has been offered by Velogic, an organisation that has also supported part of the refurbishing. The running of the project is supported by GlaxoSmithKline Foundation.
