Achievements in 2012
- CUT launches its Community Container project (after a pilot phase). The Project consists of a team of six people, including a Health Care Assistant. The project aims to provide support, counselling and referral services to people who use drugs plus a basic medical service (dressings and other primary care) and HIV screening.
- CUT launches its Medical Caravan project that offers the Needle Exchange Program, as well as services offered in the Community Container. The caravan operates in rural areas, where there is no Harm Reduction services.
- CUT becomes member of IDPC (International Drug Policy Consortium)
- CUT provides training in the field of Harm Reduction at the regional level. A training is organised in Kenya in collaboration with PILS (Prévention, Information et Lutte Contre le Sida), Mauritian NGO working in the response to AIDS, as part of the Community Action on Harm Reduction (CAHR) project, and a training in Burkina Faso in the project « Ethical Issues related to prevention interventions and care related to People Who Use Drugs ».
